The two United Autosport Orecas posted the two fastest times of the first Free Practice session for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet weekend. The British team also posted the fastest time in LMP3 while the no77 Porsche 911 RSR was the quickest of the eight LMGTE runners.
The no22 United Autosports Oreca was the quicker of the two team cars, with Filipe Albuquerque setting a 1m39.238 lap just 0.162s ahead of the no32 Oreca of Alex Brundle.Ben Hanley put the no21 Dragonspeed Oreca in third place at the end of the 90-minute session with a 1m39.417 lap, just 0.017s behind Brundle and nearly two tenths ahead of the no37 Cool Racing Oreca of Nico Lapierre.
In the LMP3 class Wayne Boyd put the no2 United Autosports Ligier-Nissan at the top of the timing sheets with a 1m47.949 lap, 0.366 seconds ahead of the no8 Realteam Racing Ligier of David Droux.The no15 RLR MSport Ligier was third fastest with a 1m48.437 lap, 0.6 seconds ahead of the no13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier.
The fastest Duqueine M30-D08 finished in fifth spot, with Colin Noble lapping in 1m49.638 in the no7 Nielsen Racing Duqueine-Nissan.
The top spot in LMGTE went to Alessio Picariello in the no77 Proton Competition Porsche, the Italian’s bets time of 1m51.197 nearly eight tenths ahead of the second placed no60 Iron Lynx Ferrari F488 of Andrea Piccini. Matt Griffin claimed the third fastest time in the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari with a 1m52.713 lap time, 0.035s ahead of the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari driven by Jody Fannin.
The ELMS cars will next be on track tomorrow morning for the second Free Practice session at 09h00.
