The no22 United Autosports Oreca-Gibson was the fastest of the 41 participants in the first free practice session of the 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring weekend in Austria. Reigning Champion Phil Hanson’s time of 1m22.051 was just 0.056s faster than the second placed car at the end of the 90-minute session, the no26 G-Drive Racing Aurus with Nyck de Vries setting the best lap of 1m22.107.
The no21 Dragonspeed USA Oreca was third quickest and the fastest of the seven Pro-Am entered cars, with Ben Hanley’s lap of 1m22.109 just 0.002s behind de Vries and 0.133s ahead of the fourth fastest car, the no37 Cool Racing Oreca of Nico Lapierre.

The no4 DKR Engineering Duqueine was the quickest of the 16 LMP3 entries, with Laurents Horr’s 1m25.510 lap of the 4.3km track was nearly 0.5 seconds ahead of the rest of the field, which was headed by the no2 United Autosports Ligier.2020 LMP3 Champion Wayne Boyd’s lap of 1m26.005 was just 0.062s ahead of his teammate Duncan Tappy in the no3 Ligier, with the no19 Cool Racing Ligier fourth fastest.
The no88 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE was the fastest of the nine LMGTE cars, with Alessio Rovera posting a 1m28.520, 0.185s ahead of the no60 Iron Lynx Ferrari, set by Giorgio Sernagiotto, and a further 0.080s ahead of the no80 Iron Lynx Ferrari of Miguel Molina.Ferrari filled the top five places with the no66 JMW Motorsport 488 fourth fastest and the no83 Iron Lynx Ferrari fifth.
The no95 TF Sport Aston Marin was 6thfastest, 0.7 seconds behind the top Ferrari, with the no77 Proton Competition Porsche in 7th, 0.045s behind the Aston.
