The second day of the ELMS Official Test saw the best overall time improve by 0.7 seconds with Arthur Leclerc lapping the 4.657km Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in 1m28.254 in the no65 Panis Racing Oreca-Gibson.
Leclerc’s time in the morning session was 0.725s ahead of the best day one time set by Marino Sato in the no22 United Autosports Oreca and over three seconds inside the official LMP2 lap record set last year.
The second fastest time was set in the afternoon session by the no22 United Autosports Oreca, with Ben Hanley posting a 1m28.493.
The fastest of the eight LMP2 Pro/Am cars was the no3 DKR Engineering Oreca-Gibson, which finished 4th overall in the morning session, with Laurents Hörr posting a 1m28.960, which was the fastest class time of the week so far by just 0.142s.
The best time of the two-day test for the LMP3 category was also set in the morning session on day two, with Gael Julien in the no15 RLR MSport Ligier-Nissan lowering the benchmark for the week so far to 1m35.509, 0.273s faster than the fastest lap on day one.Reigning champions COOL Racing was second fastest with Manuel Espirito Santo posting a 1m35.751 lap in the morning session.
The black and orange liveried GR Racing Ferrari 296 was the pace setter in the LMGT3 category, with Davide Rigon lowering the best time of the two days test to 1m41.078, shaving 0.303s off the best time set on day one.Second quickest was the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari 296 with a 1m41.376 lap with David Perel at the wheel.
With the two-day Official Test now finished, all eyes turn to the first Free Practice session of the 4 Hours of Barcelona which will get underway at 11h50 on Friday.
