Let’s have a look to the drivers’ reactions after the 4 Hours of Portimão, the final round of the 2021 European Le Mans Series.
Phil Hanson – United Autosports #22 (1st overall): “Super happy to finally get the win, it’s been a long time coming. The car has been fantastic all year, and we’ve had a lot of opportunities so it’s great to end the season like this. In terms of the race, we nailed the strategy and the car has been quick all weekend, so another faultless execution from United and my two teammates Tom and Jonathan. My start wasn’t great, but I was able to recover to what was a net-lead, so very happy with my prolonged race stint.”
Robert Kubica – Orlen Team WRT #41 (2nd overall): “We came to Portimão as Champions but still motivated to go for a good result and we took P2, which today was the best we could achieve. I want to thank everyone at Team WRT, my teammates, all the sponsors and partners for a wonderful season.”
Alexandre Coigny – Cool Racing #37(1st LMP2 Pro/Am):“A perfect end to the season, we are really happy. The team has been great this year, we progressed and improved throughout the campaign and to conclude with two pole positions and two Pro-Am wins is really encouraging. We are on the right track for a successful future.”
Niklas Krütten, Cool Racing #19 Ligier JS P320:“The team did a great job this year. We didn’t expect to lead the championship when the season began. Today just didn’t go our way. Nico was unfortunate to get a puncture after hitting some debris, which cost us a lot of time. We did everything we could but it just wasn’t to be. We had a great season, it’s tough to take right now but we can still be proud of what we’ve achieved.”
