The pit crews of the 42 cars taking part in this weekend’s 4 Hours of Aragon went head-to-head this lunchtime to discover which 12 teams, 4 for each category, would go through to tomorrow’s semi-final showdown. The crew of the no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari set the fastest time of the 42 cars, with the three mechanics changing all four tyres in 14.145s.
In LMP2 the crew of the no25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca set the fastest time to change all four tyres. The three mechanics did it in 17.250 seconds, 0.080s faster than the crew of the no28 IDEC Sport Oreca. Racing Team Turkey and DKR Engineering were third and fourth fastest in 17.395 and 18.090 seconds respectively and all four teams will go through to the next round.
In LMP3 the French outfit Ultimate were quickest in changing all four tyres in 18.890, a mammoth 2.720s faster than the second team, the no17 COOL Racing, with the Swiss team’s crew posting a 21.610s. Eurointernational were third fastest with the crew of the no10 car posting a 23.625s, 0.555s faster than the crew of the no8 Team Virage.
Kessel Racing set the fastest time in the LMGTE category, with the crew of the no57 Ferrari changing the tyres in the fastest time of the day in 14.145s. Proton Competition were second fastest with the crew of the no77 Porsche setting a time of 15.840s, 1.695 behind the Kessel crew. An Aston Martin was third fastest with the GMB Motorsport crew of the no44 car posting a time of 16.560s, 0.205s ahead of the crew of the no60 Iron Lynx Porsche.
These twelve crews will now go through to the semi-finals tomorrow (15h45). A draw will be held to choose the name of the teams who will go up against each other. The fastest of the two teams in each semi-final will go through to the final.
