FP2 – United Autosports Sets Fastest Lap of Weekend So Far

The second 90-minute Free Practice session in Portugal saw the no32 United Autosports Oreca-Gibson set the fastest lap of the weekend so far with Nicolas Jamin posting a 1m31.403, nine tenths faster than the best FP1 time.

The session was red flagged two minutes early after the no34 Racing Team Turkey Oreca went off the track.Salih Yoluc was OK but there was no time to resume the session.

The second fastest LMP2 car was the no28 IDEC Sport Oreca of Paul Loup Chatin, the former ELMS champion setting a 1m31.796, which was 0.03s ahead of the no25 G-Drive Racing Aurus of Gustavo Menezes, who also set the best time in the LMP2 Pro-Am category.

United Autosports also led the way in LMP3 with Wayne Boyd posting a weekend category best time of 1m36.953, 0.061s ahead of the no4 DKR Engineering Duqueine of Laurents Hörr and 0.101s ahead of the no13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier of Ugo De Wilde.

The championship leading no80 Iron Lynx Ferrari was the quickest of the LMGTE contenders, with Miguel Molina posting a 1m40.177 lap to head the class time sheets.The Spaniard was 0.1 seconds ahead of the no77 Proton Competition Porsche of Gianmaria Bruni, with the no83 Iron Lynx 488 GTE of Rahel Frey third fastest with a 1m40.325 lap.

Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Portimão will begin at 14h00 (local time) this afternoon.
