The 4 Hours of Monza saw the two contenders go head to head with the no74 Ferrari of Michael Broniszewski, Nicola Cadei and David Perel come out on top ahead of their rivals.

Claudio Schiavoni took the start in the no60 Iron Lynx Ferrari, the Italian at the head of the LMGTE field after Andrea Piccini had claimed the Italian team’s first ELMS pole position in qualifying.

At the start Schiavoni held his position, with Michael Fassbender in the no93 Proton Competition Porsche in 2nd place, Christian Ried in the no77 Porsche in third and Duncan Cameron in the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari in fourth.

However, the race was neutralised before the end of the opening lap as the safety car was deployed to recover the no26 G-Drive Racing Aurus from the first corner incident involving the no39 Graff Oreca.

At the restart Schiavoni and Fassbender slipped down the order as Ried and Cameron made progress up to the front of the field. Ried made a mistake at T4, taking to the escape road, allowing Cameron to take the lead. The British driver opened up a small gap as the no74 Kessel Racing Ferrari of Michael Broniszewski, which had started at the back of the grid, was up to third and challenging the no77 Porsche for second place.
