Here are some key facts ahead of the new season that is scheduled to begin in Spain with the 4 Hours of Barcelona on the 16-18 April.

LMP2

  1. 16 LMP2 cars, the strongest grid since 2019 (18 cars) and the third largest class entry since the relaunch of the ELMS in 2013.
  2. The grid will include 6 ELMS LMP2 Champions – Paul Loup Chatin (2014/2019), Harry Tincknell (2016), Memo Rojas (2017/2019), Roman Rusinov (2018), Paul Lafargue (2019), Phil Hanson (2020)
  3. The grid includes 4 FIA World Endurance LMP2 Champions – Julien Canal (2015 / 2017), Roman Rusinov (2015), Nicolas Lapierre (2016/ 2018-19), Phil Hanson (2019-20)
  4. The grid also includes three 24 Hours of Le Mans LMP2 class winners – Harry Tincknell (2014), Nicolas Lapierre (2015 / 2016 / 2018 / 2019), Phil Hanson (2020).
  5. The 2021 LMP2 grid will feature two former Formula One drivers – Robert Kubica and Will Stevens
  6. There are three former ELMS LMP3 Champions competing in LMP2 in 2021 – John Falb (2017), Job Van Uitert (2018) and Tom Gamble (2020)
  7. Venezuela’s Manuel Maldonado, cousin of Pastor Maldonado, will join 2020 team champions United Autosports in 2021
  8. Goodyear tyres will be used by all teams in 2021.
  9. Two car teams in 2021 are 2020 champions United Autosports, 2019 champions Idec Sport and three-time winners G-Drive Racing.

  1. Another strong entry, with 17 LMP3 cars entered in 2021, equalling the grid size of 2017
  2. There will be 15 Ligier and 2 Duqueine on the 2021 grid.
  3. DKR Engineering is the only team that ran the Duqueine M30-D08 in 2020 that will do so again in 2021.Nielsen Racing and Graff have switched from Duqueine to the Ligier JS P320 this season.
  4. New team Racing Experience from Luxembourg will run a single Duqueine M30-D08 for brothers David and Gary Hauser, who are also from Luxembourg.
  5. Former LMP2 team Villorba Corse will enter the LMP3 category.
  6. In 2021 the two car entries will be by 2020 team champions United Autosports, Nielsen Racing, Graff and Inter Europol Competition.

LMGTE

  1. Largest LMGTE entry for 7 years with 10 cars.
  2. Aston Martin return to take on the might of Porsche and Ferrari with a full season entry for the first time since 2017.
  3. 2017 ELMS LMGTE Vice Champions TF Sport will run a single Vantage AMR for all British crew of Ross Gunn, Ollie Hancock and John Hartshorne.
  4. 2020 LMGTE Team Champions Proton Competition will, once again, run two Porsche 911 RSR-19.
  5. Hollywood star Michael Fassbender returns for a second ELMS season in the no93 Porsche, with the cameras rolling and following his progress in the YouTube series ‘Road to Le Mans’.
  6. 2019/20 FIA WEC LMGTE Drivers Champions Francois Perrodo and Emmanuel Collard have entered for the 2021 ELMS with FIA WEC team champions AF Corse.
  7. Duncan Cameron, Aaron Scott and Matt Griffin will begin their 7th ELMS season as a crew, a record in the ELMS.
