The first season of the LMP2 Pro Am championship has seen four different winners in the five races held so far in the 2021 European Le Mans Series.
The 4 Hours of Portimão on Sunday 24 October will decide who will be crowned the first ELMS LMP2 Pro Am Champions.
The only team to win two races has been the no25 G-Drive Racing Aurus 01-Gibson, with wins at the 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring and 4 Hours of Monza for John Falb, Rui Andrade, and Roberto Merhi. These wins, coupled with three second place finishes, has put the Russian team on 104 points, 24 ahead of the no37 Cool Racing Oreca, Alexandre Coigny, Nicolas Lapierre and Charles Milesi, the winners of the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
In the driver’s championship John Falb and Rui Andrade are leading on 104 points ahead of Alexandre Coigny and Nicolas Lapierre, who are on 80 points.
With a maximum of 26 points still on offer in Portugal, the no25 G-Drive Racing just needs to take two points at the 4 Hours of Portimão.However, as there are only five Pro/Am cars entered for the for the 4 Hours of Portimão, it means Rui Andrade and John Falb just need to finish the race on Sunday 24 October to secure the 2021 ELMS LMP2 Pro Am Driver and Team titles.
