FP1: United Autosports USA Sets the Pace in FP1

The 4 Hours of Aragon winning car was the fastest of the 41 entries for this weekend’s race in Belgium. Four-time winner of the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps Phil Hanson set the fastest lap of the 90-minute session with a 2m05.030 around the 7.0039km circuit in the no22 United Autosports USA Oreca-Gibson.

The top three cars were split by just sixty-nine hundredths of a second, with the second fastest car being the fastest of the LMP2 Pro/Am runners. The no37 COOL Racing Oreca was just 0.030s behind Hanson’s Oreca, with Malthe Jakobsen setting a 2m05.060 lap, 0.039s ahead of the no81 Dragonspeed USA after Sebastian Montoya set a 2m05.099 lap.

The no20 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca was 4th overall and 3rd in LMP2 Pro/Am 0.080s ahead of the second placed LMP2 entry, the no43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca, which finished 5th overall with a 2m05.301 lap.

The no31 Racing Spirit of Leman Ligier was the fastest of the twelve LMP3 entries, with Antoine Doquin posting a 2m12.789, just 0.068s ahead of the championship leading no17 COOL Racing Ligier, with Marcos Siebert posting the best lap of 2m12.857.

The no13 Inter Europol Competition and the no8 Team Virage Ligiers finished the session 3rd and 4th quickest respectively, with just 0.088s splitting the two cars.

The no60 Iron Lynx Porsche 911 RSR-19 set the pace in the LMGTE class, with Matteo Cairoli lapping the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in 2m16.741, over half a second ahead of the second fastest car, the no60 Formula Racing Ferrari 488, with Nicklas Nielsen setting the best time of 2m17.265.

The JMW Motorsport Ferrari was third fastest, with the no44 GMB Motorsport Aston Martin in fourth, less than a second behind the no60 Porsche.

Free Practice 2 will be held tomorrow morning, with the 90-minute session beginning at 10h15.
