Alessio Picariello is one of just two Belgian drivers taking part in the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps this weekend. The 30-year-old from Gosselies, Charleroi is currently leading the LMGTE championship after winning in Barcelona and finishing second in Aragon alongside his North American teammates Ryan Hardwick and Zach Robichon in the no16 Proton Competition Porsche 911-RSR.
However, unlike his two co-drivers, Picariello already knows what it is like to win one of the most prestigious titles in motorsport having won the ELMS title with Proton Competition at the first attempt in 2020. This wasn’t his first championship title having already won the Audi R8 LMS Cup in 2017 and the ADAC Formel Masters in 2013.
Disappointingly Alessio Picariello hasn’t yet won the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps having finished 4th in his championship winning season and third in 2022 alongside Martin Rump and Andrew Haryanto for Absolute Racing.
Picariello will be looking for that first home win this weekend to extend his and his teammates championship lead before the final two races in Portugal next month.
