The LMP2 Pro/Am class, TDS Racing was the fastest of the 43 entries in the first practice session of the final weekend of the 2025 season. Mathias Beche set the best time in the no29 Oreca-Gibson, lapping in 1m31.648, 0.077s ahead of the rest of the field.
The second fastest car was also the fastest in LMP2, with championship contender Nick Yelloly posting a 1m31.725 lap in the no43 Inter Europol Competition.The British driver was 0.027s ahead of championship rival Job Van Uitert in the no28 IDEC Sport, who set a 1m31.752, while champion leader Esteban Masson was fifth fastest in the no48 VDS Panis Racing with a 1m31.908, 0.183s behind Yelloly.
The no27 Nielsen Racing was second quickest in the LMP2 Pro/Am category, with James Allen posting a 1m32.105 lap, which was 7th fastest overall. The no99 AO by TF Oreca was third in the class with a 1m32.226 set by Dane Cameron, while championship leaders Algarve Pro Racing finished the session in fifth.
LMP3 was headed by the newly crowned championship winning car, the no17 CLX Motorsport Ligier-Toyota, with Adrien Closmenil setting a best time of 1m38.935. The no12 WTM by Rinaldi Racing Duqueine was second fastest, with Griffin Peeble’s best lap of 1m39.251.
LMGT3 saw the no63 Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG of Fabien Schiller go quickest with a 1m42.973, 0.166s ahead of the Iron Dames Porsche of Michelle Gatting, with the no23 United Autosports McLaren in third a further 0.103s back.
The championship leading no50 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari was only 12th fastest at the end of the 90-minute session with a 1m44.062 lap, while their nearest rivals for the title, the no59 Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin Vantage was only two places higher in tenth on 1m43.596.
The second Free Practice session will be held at 10h10 tomorrow morning, with qualifying for the 4 Hours of Portimão beginning at 15h15.
