The no29 TDS Racing Oreca 07-Gibson will start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the head of the 17 strong LMP2 field after Mathias Beche claimed pole position at the chequered flag in the LMP2/ LMGT3 Hyperpole session on Thursday evening.
The battle for the top spot was a four-way affair with the no199 Ao by TF of Louis Deletraz, the no23 United Autosports of Ben Hanley and the no43 Inter Europol Competition of Tom Dillmann each holding the top position on the timing screens before Beche took the chequered flag in 3m35.062, 0.271 seconds ahead of Dillmann.
Deletraz crossed the line seconds before the chequered flag was shown and was on a flyer on the last lap.However, the Swiss driver, who had secured pole position in 2024, got sideways coming out of the final corner and crossed the line in 3m35.421, 0.088s behind Dillmann in third but moving ahead of Hanley by just 0.038s.
The no22 United Autosports of Pietro Fittipaldi was 5th, the no37 CLX Pure Rxcing of Tom Blomqvist was 6th, the no183 AF Corse of Matthieu Vaxiviere was 7th and the no16 RLR MSport of Ryan Cullen 8th.
The final eight cars in the LMGT3 Hyperpole were all WEC entrants with the three ELMS competitors eliminated in Qualifying on Wednesday evening.
The no27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage of Mattia Drudi took pole, just ahead of the no21 Vista AF Corse Ferrari 296 driven by ELMS LMP2 Pro/Am Champion Alessio Rovera, the Italian missing out on pole by just 0.296s. MotoGP legend, and 2023 Road To Le Mans winner, Valentino Rossi qualified the no46 Team WRT BMW in third place.
