APR, AO by TF and AF Corse Still in the Running for 2025 LMP2 Pro/Am Title

The 4 Hours of Portimão on Saturday 18 October will decide six of the eight ELMS titles, with Algarve Pro Racing, Ao by TF and AF Corse going head-to-head to see who will pick up the 2025 ELMS LMP2 Pro/Am Team and Driver titles and the automatic invitation to the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans.

After securing the victory in the last race in Silverstone the no20 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca-Gibson of Kriton Lentoudis, Olli Caldwell and Alex Quinn have a 9-point advantage at the top of the points table with 26 points still to be won in Portugal.

The Portuguese team know a second-place finish will be enough to secure the title even if PJ Hyett claims his third pole of the year and the no99 AO by TF Oreca wins the race.

PJ Hyett and Dane Cameron travel to Portimão looking to complete the hat trick. The Americans are the newly crowned IMSA WeatherTech LMP2 champions after the final race of the season in the USA last weekend.

This comes on top of the American duo securing the LMP2 Pro/Am win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside their Swiss teammate Louis Deletraz in June. Now they are looking to add the ELMS title to their collection, with Deletraz also looking to secure his fourth ELMS title in five years in Portimão.

To do this, 'Spike the Dragon' will have to win the race and hope that the Algarve Pro Racing Oreca finishes third or lower.

The outsiders in the championship battle are the reigning LMP2 Pro/Am champions François Perrodo, Matthieu Vaxiviere and Alessio Rovera in the no83 AF Corse Oreca.

The 4 Hours of Barcelona overall winners are currently 25 points behind Algarve Pro Racing so Perrodo will need to secure the point for pole on Friday 17 October to stay in the hunt. They will then have to win the race on Saturday and hope that APR and AO by TF fail to finish the race. Should neither driver take pole, Algarve Pro Racing and AF Corse would be tied on 91 points, but APR would take the title as they would have two wins and a second compared to AF Corse’s two wins and a third.

The five other cars in the field are not in the running for the 2025 titles, so will be looking to finish their seasons on a high note by finishing on the podium in Portimão.
