The second and final Free Practice session ahead of qualifying for the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps saw the times improve on those set in FP1, aided by a dry track after yesterday afternoon’s heavy rain.
The no43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca was quickest, with Jonathan Aberdein posting a 2m04.530, the fastest lap of the weekend so far and 0.1s faster than the official lap record held by United Autosports USA’s Phil Hanson. The no25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca was second quickest in 2m04.717, with the no28 IDEC Sport Oreca in third.
The fastest LMP2 Pro/Am entry was the no21 United Autosports USA Oreca in fourth overall with a 2m05.630, 0.087 ahead of the no37 COOL Racing Oreca.
LMP3 was headed by the no8 Team Virage Ligier, with Manuel Espirito Santo setting a 2m12.212 lap at the end of the session, finishing 0.240s ahead of the no12 WTM by Rinaldi Racing Duqueine-Nissan.
The fastest car in LMGTE was, once again, the no60 Iron Lynx Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Matteo Cairoli, the Italian lapping in 2m17.096, which was slightly slower than his best FP1 time. The no77 and no16 Proton Competition Porsches were second and third fastest respectively, with the no50 Formula Racing Ferrari in 4th spot at the end of the 90-minute session.
Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will be held later today, beginning with LMGTE at 14h05.
