The second day of the ELMS Official Test saw the no25 Algarve Pro Racing set the fastest time with James Allen posting a 1m30.223 lap in the morning session. Allen’s Day 1 time of 1m29.691 wasn’t bettered on Day 2 and Algarve Pro Racing head into the race weekend knowing they have a fast car for the 4 Hours of Barcelona on Sunday.
The no43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca of Jonathan Aberdein was second fastest in the morning, the South African 0.540s behind James Allen and 0.055s ahead of the no21 United Autosports Oreca of Nelson Piquet Jr, which was the fastest LMP2 Pro/Am entry, with the nearest Pro/Am car in fourth spot, the no81 Dragonspeed USA Oreca driven by Sebastian Montoya who finished the session just 0.09s behind Piquet Jr.
The afternoon session was slower with the no28 IDEC Sport Oreca of Paul Loup Chatin going quickest with a 1m31.164 lap, 0.533s ahead of the no99 Proton Competition Oreca of Gianmaria Bruni, the no99 Oreca the fastest of the Pro/Am runners.
The no7 Nielsen Racing Ligier was the quickest LMP3 entry, with Ryan Harper-Ellam posting the fastest time of the two-day test, a 1m36.403 lap, just 0.003s faster than best time on Day 1 set by the no17 Cool Racing Ligier.
Harper-Ellam’s time in the morning session was just 0.045s faster than the second placed car, the no10 Eurointernational Ligier of Glenn Van Berlo, with the no15 RLR MSport Ligier of Gael Julien, with just 0.1 seconds splitting the three cars.
The afternoon session was headed by the fastest car on Day 1, the no17 Cool Racing Ligier, with Marcos Siebert posting a 1m36.500 lap, six tenths ahead of the no31 Racing Spirit of Leman Ligier of Antoine Doquin.
In LMGTE it was an all Danish 1-2 in the morning session with the no50 Formula Racing Ferrari of Mikkel Mac taking the top spot with a 1m40.755 lap, 0.185s ahead of the no44 GMB Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage of Nikki Thiim.
The afternoon session was slower than the morning, with the no51 AF Corse Ferrari posting the fastest class time of 1m41.352 with Ulysse De Pauw at the wheel, 0.180s ahead of the no60 Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Matteo Cairoli.
The two-day ELMS Official Test is now concluded and the 42 cars will back on track tomorrow at 11h50 for the first Free Practice session of the 4 Hours of Barcelona weekend.
