The 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring was like a roller coaster with sun, heavy rain, lots of overtaking…let’s see what the drivers had to say after the second round of the 2021 European Le Mans Series.
Robert Kubica, Orlen Team WRT #41, 1st LMP2: “A second win is incredible, I think nobody could have imagined that. It was not an easy Sunday, with terrible conditions, but we took the good decisions at the right moment and it paid off. It’s difficult to have everything perfect, and we didn’t, but in the crucial moments we did the right thing. Now comes the Paul Ricard, let’s focus on that, continue to improve, but before that, I think we deserve to enjoy the moment and some celebration, because, mentally, it has been an exhausting weekend for everybody...”
Logan Sargeant, Racing Team Turkey #34, 2nd LMP2 Pro/Am: “What a debut weekend it was with Racing Team Turkey by TF Sport. It was an absolute pleasure to work with them. The car was extremely fast from the time we put it on the floor on Thursday and to get my first pole was amazing. The race was incredibly tricky and we were unfortunate to get caught out by the safety car, but I was happy with my stint to get us back up to P4 overall and P2 in class in those difficult conditions!”
Alexandre Coigny, Cool Racing #37, 10th LMP2:“We can take positives from this weekend even if the result wasn’t what we aimed for. The car was better than it was in Barcelona and a podium could have been possible with a bit more luck. The Safety Car came out at a bad time for us and the conditions were really tricky. We are still in a good position in the Pro-Am championship battle and we will continue to work hard on the car ahead of the next event.”
Niklas Krüten, Cool Racing #19, 1st LMP3: “Another weekend and another win, we’re really happy with the result. The race start was pretty hectic, Nicolas had a good opening lap and got up to second. He was doing well and then I got in the car as it started to rain. It got harder so we made the call to come in for wets just before the Safety Car was called out. I handed the car off to Matt and he did really well to see out the win for our second victory in two weekends.”
