The season got off to a slow start for the Italian from the town of Arzignano, which is situated 100km west of Venice. The no34 Oreca finished 8th in Barcelona and then had a DNF after an issue forced the car into retirement from the lead of the 4 Hours of Le Castellet.

A 7th placed finish on the first of the two ELMS visits to Italy, with a 4th place in Spa-Francorchamps in August, the team missing a podium finish by just 1.3 seconds.

The only podium of the season came in Mugello, and the season finished in Portugal with a 5th place in Portimão. Ghiotto, Novalak and Gray finished 7th in the championship standings on 47 points, 46 points behind the 2024 LMP2 champions Robert Kubica, Louis Delétraz and Jonny Edgar.

The Italian driver dovetailed his ELMS season with a drive in the NTT IndyCar Series in the United States, driving for Dale Coyne Racing. We caught up with Luca Ghiotto in Portimão to talk about his first season in the ELMS, the positives he has taken away from the six races and he also gave some insight into the two different cars he has raced in 2024.
