As the clock counted past the half way point of the 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring the no32 United Autosports Ligier of Will Owen was leading by four seconds. The no22 G-Drive Racing Oreca, which had started on pole position, was second in the hands of Nicolas Minassian, with the no40 Graff Oreca-Gibson of James Allen in 3rd place.
The early pace in the LMP3 class was made by the AT Racing Ligier of Mikkel Jensen but after a longer pitstop the Austrian team dropped down the order and the lead passed to the no11 Eurointernational Ligier of Giorgio Mondini, the Italian holding a 34 second lead over Sean Rayhall in the no2 United Autosports Ligier.
In the LMGTE Class it was a Ferrari 1-2-3 at the end of the first half of the race with the no66 JMW Motorsport F488 of Rob Smith holding a 17 second lead over the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari of Duncan Cameron. The no55 Ferrari in the hands of Aaron Scott was the early pace setter with the no51 Spirit of Race Ferrari and the no77 Proton Competition Porsche battling for 2nd and 3rd in the first hour.
