Team Virage is doing its debuts in the LMP2 European Le Mans Series category for the 2022 campaign, and is happy to announce the #51 Oreca 07 line-up featuring Bronze driver Rob Hodes alongside Gabriel Aubry and Jazeman Jaafar.

Hodes (USA) decided to step up in LMP2 and to join the growing Pro-Am category. His most recent experience includes ELMS, Le Mans Cup and Asian Le Mans campaigns in LMP3, but the 2022 season won’t be his first experience in LMP2 as he had competed in the 2020 Petit Le Mans and the 2021 24h of Daytona.

Despite their young age, Gabriel Aubry and Jazeman Jaafar are already very experienced in Endurance racing, having both achieved strong results in LMP2. While ex-Mercedes F1 test driver Jaafar from Malaysia is an LMP2 race winner in WEC and Asian Le Mans Series, Aubry (France) is also a WEC LMP2 race winner and finished 3rdin the 2021 and runner up in the 2019 WEC LMP2 season.

The structure will be managed by Philippe Gautheron and Julien Gerbi and will count on a promising technical partnership with JOTA during the complete 2022 campaign.

Rob Hodes :“I am thrilled to be in a P2 car with Team Virage this year representing The Exodus Road; racing for the end of Human Slavery and Trafficking. I can’t wait to embark on this journey with terrific teammates and awesome co-drivers.Gaby and Jazeman are consummate pros who drive with great precision and bring phenomenal winning and P2 experience. I’m excited to learn all I can and then some! Racing in so many countries together will be a total joy…”

Gabriel Aubry :“I’m extremely happy to join Virage in their first step in LMP2 this season. I strongly believe in the package they built, either on the technical or on the human side. Everyone knows each other and have worked separately in the past five years, it feels like a big reunion ! I’m thankful for the team to believe in me as a pro driver and allowing me to work in this project.”

Jazeman Jaafar :“I am really proud and excited in this new chapter of joining Team Virage in the LMP2 of the ELMS. The ELMS proved to be one of the most competitive field in Europe, and with our line-up of Rob, Gaby and I shows that we are serious in fighting for strong results : Team Virage has worked very hard and our preparation so far has proven we have the capability in doing so. I look forward into the season ahead kicking off with Paul Ricard with my team mates and the team to start off a strong year ahead.”

Philippe Gautheron :“Our intention when we started Team Virage a few years ago was to reach the highest level of endurance racing. Joining the LMP2 field this season is a first achievement following several years of intense work. We are excited both with our line-up and our technical partnership with JOTA and are looking forward to a great 2022 campaign.”
