Official ELMS Test Concludes in Spain. Let’s Go Racing!

The final 7 hours of testing saw the ELMS teams complete their preparation for the 4 Hours of Barcelona on Sunday 18 April.  The best LMP2 time of Day 1 was not bettered, but the best times in LMP3 and LMGTE were improved in the morning session.

Louis Deletraz set the best time of the two-day test in the evening session on Day 1, lapping the Barcelona track in 1m33.173 in the no41 Orlen Team WRT Oreca.The closest time on day two was set in the morning session by 2020 LMP2 champion Phil Hanson, the British driver posting a 1m33.322, just 0.149s slower in the no22 United Autosports Oreca.Ben Hanley set the best time in the afternoon session, lapping in 1m33.682 in the no21 DragonSpeed USA Oreca-Gibson.

After setting the best class time on Day 1, reigning Michelin Le Mans Cup LMP3 Champion Laurents Hörr was quickest in both the morning and afternoon sessions.In the morning the German set 1 m39.042 in the no4 DKR Engineering Duqueine, 0.499s inside his previous best time and 0.5 seconds ahead of the no13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier.

The LMGTE fastest lap time was also bettered on Day Two, with Gianmaria Bruni posting a 1m43.496 lap in the no77 Proton Competition Porsche, 0.293s inside the best time of Day One set by Spain’s Miguel Molina.The no88 AF Corse Ferrari was the fastest car in class in the afternoon session, with Alessio Rovera posting a 1m43.682, slower than Bruni’s morning time but still quicker than Molina’s benchmark time of the first day.

The ELMS cars will be back on track on Friday 16 April.
