The no50 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3 has won two races in 2025, which has put Custodio Toledo, Riccardo Agostini and Lilou Wadoux at the head of the championship standings with a 12-point advantage going into the final race of the season.

We caught up with Lilou Wadoux as she and her teammates prepare for the 4 Hours of Portimão, where she could become the first female driver to win an ELMS title.

Q: You are leading the LMGT3 title race by 12-points going into the final race in Portimão.How are you going to approach this race? Will it be any different than the previous events?

Lilou Wadoux: “I will try to approach this race like the others race. I just want to feel free and not too stressed. I prefer to give everything on track than to be stressed now… but, for sure, it’s a little bit different than the others because we are leading. However, in the end we have to maximise everything we have in our hands, but it won’t be easy with the extra weight due to the success ballast. We just have to score points and stay on track. “

Q: You and your teammates have secured two wins this year. What has been the key to your success this season?

LW: “Honestly, we had a difficult first round in Barcelona, so we put everything on the table to fix the issues we had. Both victories were due to the amazing job by the team, the pit stops and the strategy. It’s always nice to be in this position before the last race to have 2 wins. To be honest the strategy was always to stay on the track and maximises what we had. When we had the opportunity to win, we tried to take it.”

Q: While your championship lead is healthy there are plenty of challengers for the title this season. How do you rate the opposition you’ve faced in the LMGT3 category this year?

LW: “We are in good position before the last round in Portimão, but it is not over to be honest. A lot of cars are still in the fight, and we’ve seen since the beginning of the season, different cars and team have won. The level of the teams and drivers is extremely high, but, for sure, we are all here for win.”

Q: Portimão is a very technical circuit. What do you like about the circuit, and do you have a favourite corner or corners?

LW: “Portimão for me is special. I had my first victory there. It’s one of my favourite tracks; the ups and downs are always fun. The place is warm most of the time, as we are close to the sea and we can have some fun and cool moments out on the track.

“It isn’t easy to pick my favourite corner, but, if I had to pick, I think Turn 4 and the last corner would be my choice.”

The 4 Hours of Portimão will take place from Thursday 16 until Saturday 18 October 2025 at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
