Harrison Newey joins British talent-supporting BRDC SuperStars program

The British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) founded the programme in 2008 under the auspices of then President Damon Hill and programme director Tim Harvey. Over 65 drivers have since benefited from the guidance which the BRDC SuperStars scheme has to offer. Several graduates have gone on to achieve notable success in high level, international motor sport, with numerous others now enjoying professional careers as factory-backed drivers.

2017-18 Asian Le Mans Series champion Harrison Newey will spend the season racing an LMP2 sports-prototype in the European Le Mans Series with the Algarve Pro Racing team.

All the Superstars will benefit from the range of advice the programme has to offer to enhance their physical and mental fitness. Workshops and training events will also be run to enhance their communication, media, and marketing skills to cover every aspect of professional racing driver development.

The unique element of the programme, and also the most invaluable, is the unprecedented access the SuperStars will have to the members of the BRDC for advice and guidance.

Harrison Newey – European Le Mans Series with Algarve Pro Racing

“It is an honour to be a BRDC SuperStar. I knew I wanted to be a racing driver from a young age and I’ve never taken things for granted. Moving up in sports cars will be a big challenge for me: I’ll be doing two-hour stints, maybe three or four at Le Mans, and the longest I did this year was 35 minutes, so to have advice from members will be massively helpful. It’s going to be a tough year proving myself against very talented people but, with the help and support of the BRDC, hopefully it will be a positive one.”
