For Phil Hanson and Tom Gamble, the 4 Hours of Barcelona is something of an anniversary. The duo raced together for the first time at the 2021 edition of the Spanish ELMS round, topping off the weekend with their first podium together too.
Since then, Hanson and Gamble have clinched another 4 ELMS podiums with United Autosports, including a win at 4 Hours of Portimao in 2021 and second place in the overall championship.
Now, they’re back to the place where it all started – and hunting the Barcelona win. Together with teammate Duncan Tappy, the crew are currently running 4thin the championship, but with half the season left, it’s all to play for.
Phil Hanson:“Being back in Barcelona is always nice. We had a strong result here last year at the beginning of the season finishing third and, while it’s a few steps away from our podium target, it was great to get that so early on in the season. Both me and Tom raced here in 2021, we’re familiar with the circuit and so this weekend we aim to build on last year’s results.”
Tom Gamble:“Last year, Barcelona was my first ELMS LMP2 race and my first race with Phil. It was great to get a podium – now, we’re back and the goal for this weekend is to go a couple of steps higher. Barcelona is an amazing place, one of my favourites – and with a bit of rain forecast for this weekend, there could be some exciting action on track.”
