G-Drive in Front Ahead of Qualifying

The second and final 90-minute Free Practice session of the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps weekend saw championship leaders G-Drive Racing set the fastest lap of the weekend so far. The session was interrupted by two red flags and one full course yellow, with the weather also playing its part when rain fell across the circuit at the mid way point of the 90-minute practice session.

Jean-Eric Vergne set a 2m02.348 lap of the 7km Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the no26 G-Drive Racing Oreca-Gibson, 0.2 seconds ahead of the no29 Duqueine Engineering Oreca of Nicolas Jamin and the no28 IDEC Sport Oreca of Paul-Loup Chatin.

The no15 RLR MSport Ligier of Job Van Uitert was the fastest of the 18 strong LMP3 field with the Dutch driver setting a 2m14.423 lap, the current championship leading car finishing the session just 0.066s ahead of the no17 Ultimate Norma of Matthieu Lahaye and 0.5 seconds ahead of the no11 Eurointernational Ligier of Mattia Drudi.

Porsche once again led the way in the LMGTE class with the no77 Proton Competition 911 of Dennis Olsen posting a 2m19.290, two tenths ahead of the no80 Ebimotors Porsche.  The championship leading no88 Proton Competition Porsche 911 set a 2m19.839, 0.177s ahead of the first Ferrari, the no66 JMW Motorsport F488.

Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will take place this afternoon, beginning with LMGTE at 13h10 CET.
