The no22 United Autosports Oreca of championship leaders Filipe Albuquerque and Phil Hanson was the quickest of the 35 cars taking part in the 90-minute FP2 held under the floodlights at the Circuit Paul Ricard that saw a rain shower fall on the track for a short spell.
Albuquerque set the sessions best time of 1m41.464, three tenths ahead of the no31 Panis Racing Oreca and the no21 DragonSpeed Oreca. Three thousandths of a second separated Will Stevens and Ben Hanley, the Brits setting a 1m41.783 and 1m41.786 respectively.
Realteam Racing were the fastest of the LMP3 contenders with David Droux’s time of 1m51.163 just 0.017 ahead of the no11 Eurointernational Ligier of Niko Kari and 0.12s ahead of the no15 RLR MSport Ligier at the end of the session.
IN LMGTE 0.6 seconds separated the top four cars, with the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari heading up the class. Matt Griffin’s time of 1m53.836 was 0.061s ahead of Daniel Serra in the no51 AF Corse 488 GTE, who was four tenths ahead of the no60 Iron Lynx Ferrari. The no77 Proton Competition Porsche was fourth quickest with a 1m54.470 lap time.
Qualifying for the Le Castellet 240 will take place at 11h40 tomorrow morning, with the first 10-minute session for LMGTE, followed by LMP3 and concluding with LMP2 at 12h20.
