The no43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca set the fastest lap in the second Free Practice session as the teams prepare for this afternoon’s qualifying for the Goodyear 4 Hours of Silverstone. Nick Yelloly posted a 1m43.381 lap, 0.444s ahead of the no22 United Autosports Oreca of Ben Hanley.
The championship leading no48 VDS Panis Racing Oreca finished the session 12th in class.
The no99 AO by TF Oreca was fastest in LMP2 Pro/Am with the 4 Hours of Imola winning car lapping the 5.891km Silverstone track in 1m45.158 with Louis Delétraz behind the wheel. The no21 United Autosports Oreca of Marino Sato was second fastest in LMP2 Pro/Am, 0.153s behind the class leader and 0.215s ahead of the no83 AF Corse Oreca.
The no11 Eurointernational Ligier was the quickest of the ten strong LMP3 grid with Ian Aguilera setting a 1m54.617, 0.124s ahead of the no12 WTM by Rinaldi Racing Duqueine of Griffin Peebles. The no15 RLR MSport Ligier in third, with Gillian Henrion posting a 1m54.872.
The championship leading CLX Motorsport Ligier didn’t take part in the session, the team electing to save tyres for qualifying after a trip into the gravel in FP1 on Friday.
The no82 TF Sport Corvette of Charlie Eastwood was the quickest of the 13 entries in LMGT3, the British flagged car finishing the session with a 1m59.581, 0.067s ahead of the championship leading no59 Racing Spirit of Léman Aston Martin Vantage with Valentin Hasse Clot behind the wheel.
The no23 United Autosports McLaren was third quickest with a 1m59.771, 0.149s ahead of the no86 GR Racing Ferrari at the chequered flag.
Qualifying for the Goodyear 4 Hours of Silverstone is due to begin with the LMGT3 category at 14h20 this afternoon.
