Matteo Cressoni has plenty of silverware in his trophy cabinet, but the 37-year-old Italian was extremely pleased to add the European Le Mans Series LMGTE championship winning trophy to his collection last season.
Matteo Cressoni, from Montova in Northern Italy, won the 2004 Italian F3 title before he switched to endurance the following season, finishing as Le Mans Series Vice Champion in the LMGT1 category.He then added the Ginetta G50 Championship in 2012, the Gulf 12 Hours title and the SP3 class winner’s trophy at the 24 Hours of Barcelona in 2013.
However, it is in the ELMS he has made his mark, finishing 3rdoverall in the LMGTE standings in 2019.
In 2021 he was instrumental in Iron Lynx taking their first championship win, with Cressoni standing on the top step of the ELMS podium three times alongside fellow Italian Rino Mastronardi and Spain’s Miguel Molina.The trio took podium finishes in all six races to finish the season on 126 points, 37 ahead of their nearest rivals.
