After impressing everyone by taking the overall pole position in the opening round of the 2025 European Le Mans Series, Duqueine Team and Roy Nissany are ready to get back out on track this weekend for race two of the championship.
Though a gearbox failure prevented him from fighting for a spot on the overall podium last time, the Israeli driver will have another chance to do so in only his second official outing in the LMP2 category, this time around the Circuit Paul Ricard - as the French track is set to host the 4 hours of Le Castellet. Nissany will therefore join forces with Duqueine Team once more, stepping behind the wheel of their #30 Oreca 07 to race in the LMP2 class; there won’t be any changes to the team’s line-up, either, as Richard de Gerus and Francesco Simonazzi will race alongside Roy.
The Circuit Paul Ricard is a staple in the European Le Mans Series calendar, given its presence on it since 2008 with the exception of the 2012 season. It’s a track that Nissany knows quite well, too; in fact, the Israeli driver has raced around it on multiple occasions – starting from Formula 2, where he finished in the points during the 2022 feature race. Not only that, Roy also drove around the Circuit Paul Ricard when he competed in the World Series Formula V8 3.5, finishing second on both races around the French circuit in 2016. He also partook in the 2021 Formula 1 weekend around here, driving for Williams in FP1.
After two collective test sessions on Thursday, March 1st, the official action on the French circuit is set to begin on Friday, May 2nd with FP1 at 13:00 local time, whereas the second 90-minute session is set to begin on Saturday, May 3rd at 9:00. Later during the day, the Duqueine crew will try to take pole for the second race in a row, with qualifying for the LMP2 class beginning at 14:20 local time. The 4 hours of Le Castellet is instead going to start on Sunday, May 4th at 11:00 local time.
Roy Nissany: “I’m very excited to get back out on track after how the opening round of the season ended. Despite the issues that struck us in Barcelona, the speed was surely there – both on one-lap pace and on long runs. I have great memories about racing here in Le Castellet in the past, and I’m sure that if we put everything together, we can achieve a solid result here.”
