With two races left, the fight for the 2024 European Le Mans Series titles is now hotting up. All of the titles in the four classes are still to be decided, the destination of the titles in the LMP2 Pro/Am class could be wrapped up at the end of the 4 Hours of Mugello on Sunday 29 September.
After claiming their first win of the 2024 season Robert Kubica, Louis Deletraz and Jonny Edgar now lead the LMP2 category in the no14 AO by TF by the slimmest of margins
The American flagged team have 65 points after four races, which is a 2-point advantage over former leaders no43 Inter Europol Competition, with Sebastian Alvarez, Tom Dillmann and Vlad Lomko on 63 points.
The no28 IDEC Sport Oreca is currently third on 50 points after scoring their first podium finish of the season at Spa-Francorchamps and 4 Hours of Imola race winners Panis Racing are fourth on 48 points.
Reigning LMP2 Pro/Am champions AF Corse head to Mugello with a 20-point advantage after winning the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and their nearest rivals failing to score.
Alessio Rovera, Francois Perrodo and Matthieu Vaxiviere are on 80 points after four rounds, with Alex Quinn, Kriton Lentoudis and Richard Bradley on 60 points in the no20 Algarve Pro Racing.
Round 2 winners Gregoire Saucy, Mathias Beche and Rodrigo Salles in the no29 Richard Mille by TDS Oreca are third in the LMP2 Pro/Am standings with 59 points after an accident in Belgium denied them any race points after starting from pole position.
A win at home in Mugello for the no83 AF Corse would give the Italian team their second ELMS LMP2 Pro/Am title in a row.
A second win in a row for Italian team Eurointernational Ligier extended their lead at the top of the LMP3 standings, with Matt Bell and Adam Ali on 77 points, 14 points ahead of Round 2 class winners no15 RLR MSport, with Gael Julien, Michael Jensen and Nick Adcock on 63 points.
The no8 Team Virage Ligier retained their third place in the championship standings on 57 points but dropped back slightly after finishing 6thin Belgium. Reigning champions COOL Racing are 4thon 48 points.
The LMGT3 title race is the closest of the four ELMS classes with a single point splitting the top two cars and 24 points covering the top 9 cars with 52 points still left to be won in the final two races of the season.
With the no63 Iron Lynx Lamborghini failing to finish in Belgium, the no59 Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin moved to the top of championship standings on 53 points after Casper Stevenson, Derek Deboer and Valentin Hasse Clot finished 4th in Spa-Francorchamps.
A second-place finish in Belgium moved the no86 GR Racing Ferrari up to second, with Davide Rigon, Michael Wainwright and Riccardo Pera on 52 points.
After starting on pole position, the no63 Iron Lynx Lamborghini failed to finish after an accident forced the car into retirement. Andrea Caldarelli, Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Axcil Jefferies left Belgium with 49 points, just 4 points behind the no59 Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin Vantage.
4 Hours of Imola winners Michelle Gatting, Rahel Frey and Sarah Bovy left Belgium pointless after the no85 Iron Dames Porsche had an accident. The team are now in 4th overall on 40 points, just 13 points behind the leaders and 1 point ahead of Round 2 winners, the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari 296 and 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps winners, the no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari, with both teams on 39 points.
Round 5 of the 2024 European Le Mans Series will be the 4 Hours of Mugello in Italy on 27-29 September.
