After the 4 Hours of Le Castellet the teams and drivers are now looking forward to the challenge of the fearsome 7km Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.
We spoke to three of the championship leading drivers, including Belgium’s Alessio Picariello, about their thoughts on the next race on the 2020 European Le Mans Series calendar on Sunday 9 August.
Alessio Picariello (BEL)
No77 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR
“I am very excited to be racing at Spa because it’s been seven years since I’ve been there and the last time was in a formula car, so this will be the first time in a GT car for me. But there is no reason to be afraid. We have a great car; a great team and I love Spa as I have always been good there. So, I’m excited to go to my home race as the championship leader and hopefully we will be able to increase the gap while we are there.”
Job Van Uitert (NLD)
No32 United Autosports Oreca 07-Gibson
“Spa is great; also, for endurance racing it’s very nice.I have some good memories there with G-Drive last year in the WEC race in the rain, so possibly we will have some rain there. We’re going there to win!”
Wayne Boyd (GBR)
No2 United Autosports Ligier JS P320-Nissan
“I absolutely love Spa, it’s one of my favourite tracks. So, I’m looking forward to going there and also looking forward to going there in the new car. It will be interesting to compare it to how the old car was around there. Obviously, we’ll be going there to push for the championship with another win.”
