The championship winning no22 United Autosports Oreca 07-Gibson got the new season off to a flying start with Phil Hanson setting the fastest lap of the first practice session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.
The British driver posted a 1m33.629 lap, 0.147s ahead of the no37 Cool Racing Oreca driven by Nico Lapierre, which was the fastest of the seven Pro-Am cars on the LMP2 grid.
The no28 Idec Sport Oreca was third fastest with a lap of 1m34.108 set by Paul Loup Chatin, with the no41 Orlen Team WRT Oreca, driven by Louis Deletraz, fourth just 0.040s slower than Chatin.

The LMP3 class was headed by the no8 Graff Ligier after David Droux posted a 1m39.763, 0.087s ahead of the no13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier of Ugo de Wilde and 0.220s ahead of 2020 LMP3 champion Wayne Boyd in the no2 United Autosports Ligier.
The no95 TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage set the pace in the first 90-minute session of the 4 Hours of Barcelona weekend, with Ross Gunn setting a 1m43.190, 0.265s ahead if the no80 Iron Lynx Ferrari F488 GTE EVO of Spain’s Miguel Molina, with the 2020 championship winning car, the no77 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR-19, third fastest with a 1m43.528 lap set by Jaxon Evans.
Free Practice 2 will take place at 09h00 tomorrow morning with qualifying following in the afternoon.
